I have a finicky dog, how do I know they will like the meals you offer? We know what you mean, Sweets is a pretty picky eater too, but he loves the meals. Some of our meals are made with gravy (for salt content and taste) and we don't know of any dog that can resist gravy. Our meals are very aromatic, full of quality meat (turkey, chicken, beef, etc.) and are always fresh so we are sure your dog will love our meals. Do you ever use meat by-products, meat meal, preservatives or other chemicals in your dog meals? No, never! We never use meat by-products of any sort and add absolutely no preservatives or other chemicals. Every single ingredient is human grade and is completely edible by humans. We taste test all of our recipes and would never add or use anything that we would not eat ourselves. All of our ingredients are fresh and healthy. We also never freeze our meals so they are as fresh when you receive them as when they were cooked. As a matter of fact, we freshly prepare all ordered meals within 24 hours of you receiving the order and they are vacuum sealed to keep them at their freshest. Do you add supplements to your dog meals? Yes, we add a quality vitamin, nutrient and mineral supplement to our meals only to replace what has been lost simply due to the cooking process. We also add an Omega-3 fatty acid (fish oil) supplement to our meals. Do you use organic ingredients? Yes, we use all possible organic ingredients. The only time we don't use organic ingredients is when they are not available. If the organic ingredient is available, we always use it. Are the dog meals you offer ever frozen? No, absolutely not. Our individually packaged meals are never frozen, they are always fresh. We prepare our meals within 24 hours of delivering them to your home. Our meals are individually vacuum sealed so they don't need to ever be frozen (unless you are storing them longer than 7 days). How long will the dog meals remain fresh in my fridge? Our fresh and healthy, individually vacuumed sealed meals should stay fresh in your fridge for up to 7 days. If you are storing your meals longer than 7 days, they should be placed in your freezer. How long will it be safe to freeze my order? You can keep your meals frozen for up to 3-4 months. How often do you change the dog meals menu? We offer a different meal each week. We have a variety of meals that we choose from and they are rotated on a weekly basis. If you find your dog has a favorite, simply order more of that particular meal the week we are offering it and store a few weeks worth in your freezer. We rotate the menu because dogs get different vitamins, nutrients and minerals from different ingredients, so rotating the meals ensures they get a variety of different vitamins, nutrients and minerals. How do I find out what meal choice you are serving next week? Check out our blog to see what is being offered next week. Why don't you offer your dog meals for order by mail? We could offer our meals by mail, but we looked into how much it would cost to overnight ship our meals and the price was simply outrageous. We felt it wasn't reasonable to offer this method of delivery. If you don't mind paying the high fee for shipping, contact us and we will definitely arrange this for you. We must let you know that our meals MUST be shipped overnight to make sure that they arrive and remain fresh. How do you deliver your dog meals? We deliver our individually packaged, vacuum sealed meals to your home by car once per week. When do you make your deliveries? We make most of our deliveries on Sundays. If you would like your meals to be delivered on a different day, state that in the "notes" section on the questionnaire we send you after your payment has been processed and we may be able to accomodate you. What area do you deliver your dog meals to? We deliver our meals to Pickering, Ajax, Whitby, Oshawa, Courtice, Bowmanville, Port Hope, Cobourg, City of Kawartha Lakes and Peterborough on a weekly basis. We will be including the GTA in the near future. If I don't live in the your delivery area, will you make a special delivery for me and my dog(s)? It depends on where you are located. We may charge an additional delivery fee if you are located too far out of our delivery area. Contact us to request this before you order your dog's meals for the week. How much do you charge to deliver my food order? Our delivery fee is included in the price of our meals. How is your dog food packaged? Our dog meals are vacuum sealed in individually wrapped packages. Each meal is packaged separately making it easy to determine how much to feed your dog and you don't need to worry about re-storing food. What does the food label indicate on it? Our meal labels indicate ingredients, mineral and nutrient content, calories, fat, fibre, and other important nutritional information. We also include the date of packaging, best before date (for fridge and freezer), and feeding directions. How much should I feed my dog? We determine the caloric intake level from questions answered by you. We consider breed, weight, activity level and age to determine how many calories your dog should be eating on a daily basis. With this information we determine how much of a particular recipe your dog should be eating and we individually package that calculated amount of food. You simply open one package and feed it to your dog. One package per day. You can split the portion into 2 or 3 portions or you can feed the entire package in one sitting. It's up to you how many times a day you feed your dog, but we determine, with your assistance how much to feed. How do I switch my dog's present diet to the food you offer? Dogs stomaches can sometimes be sensitive so we recommend the following suggestions. First week - 1/4 portion of nuttymutt meal mixed with regular food. Second week - 1/2 portions of nuttymutt meal mixed with regular food. Third week - Full portion of nuttymutt meal. You no longer need to mix with regular food. We compensate how many supplements your dog's meal gets based on how many weeks they have been eating our meals. For instance, week 1, we give 1/4 the amount of supplements, week 2, we give 1/2 the amount of supplements. We do this so your dog doesn't get too many supplements as this can be very harmful to your pet. Will my dog get an upset stomach if I switch their diet? If you switch their diet too quickly, sometimes problems will occur. Sometimes a dog will be more sensitive to a swich or change in their diet. If you notice that your dog is having problems, slow down how quickly you are transitioning their diet. For instance, week one, we recommend 1/4 amount of nuttymutt meals mixed with their regular food. You could also try serving your dog(s) the recommended transition diet of week one for two weeks instead. If you have any questions, contact us, we are always glad to help. We want your dog to enjoy their new delicious meals, not have difficulties due to switching to them. If you have any more questions that are not answered here, please don't hesitate to contact us. |
